SIZE & FIT
Many other shoe brands design their fit on a man’s foot mould - even the ladies sizes! Research also shows women often wear a size too small for their foot (probably because we’re trying to compensate for the men’s fit - ugh!). Also things like age, pregnancy and menopause can impact on your shoe size.
As a general rule most women find that their she wear size is similar to their everyday women's shoe size eg. heels, sandals, sneakers. Our main aim is to get you super comfy and supported in your she wears, so we recommend checking a variety of your shoes for their sizing and then checking back to the product you're looking to purchase. We provide very detailed sizing information on each product page to help you find the best style and fit for you (such as wide foot, narrow ankles, high arches) - just check the Size & Fit tab at the bottom of the product page.
If you're still unsure, measure your feet as per the instructions on our Size Guide or reach out to our Customer Support team who are fit experts! Please note, various international size comparisons are also provided on the size guide.
Due to the comprehensive information on our site and the fact our shoes are generally true to size, we average just 5% returns (industry average is 25-30%!!). However for your peace of mind, we offer 30 day returns for Australian purchases and 45 Day Returns for international purchases. So if something isn’t quite right for you, you can opt for a different size or refund.*
Absolutely! We're always happy to hear from you. We offer virtual fitting appointments, where you can video chat with us for personalised style and size advice. Via video we can also display some of the features of each shoe, which may help your final decision. Book your appointment today.
Otherwise, we love a chat - pop onto our Live Chat feature for a super quick response during business hours, call or email us!
Comprehensive sizing information and fit types (such as wide foot, narrow ankles, high arches) are all listed on each product - just click on the Size & Fit panel to see the details.
For safety footwear, the best styles for narrow feet are She Achieves zip lace up, She Pursues zip lace up, She Succeeds pull on or She Moves safety sneaker.
Our best work and fashion footwear styles for narrower feet are the She Supports sneaker or She Discovers boot.
Comprehensive sizing information and fit types (such as wide foot, narrow ankles, high arches) are all listed on each product - just click on the Size & Fit panel to see the details.
If you require safety footwear, our She Does hiker style range has specifically been designed for a wide foot and we have a large number of customers with wide and/or problematic feet who LOVE this range (check out the reviews on the product page!). We also have customers with wide feet comfortably wear our She Achieves zip lace up, She Pursues or She Inspires pull on boot.
For work or lifestyle footwear, check out either the She Nurtures or the She Cares sneaker ranges, which have been designed with a wider toe box and a wide upper design - perfect for a wide foot, or if you're after a boot, look at our She Explores. The She Supports sneaker may also be suitable for you (if your foot is slightly wide), as this style comes with a 2nd set of thinner insoles to allow you to tweak the fit.
Our footwear also offers an adaptive fit, which means we have cleverly designed hidden internal depth so you can remove our signature insoles (which are thicker than standard shoe insoles) and replace with a thinner alternative, or an orthotic.
We don't quote specific shoe widths as it's not a true representation of the actual fit of the boot (it's a bit of a marketing ploy by some brands!). It's not just the foot last that makes a shoe a certain width. The design and the components used are just as important, for example a wider safety toe, an expandable gusset that runs lower over the metatarsal area, extra depth internally etc. It also depends on where your foot is wide .. some people have wide toes, some are wide over the top of the foot.
We all deserve comfy and supportive shoes, so this is why we offer returns on all our full priced products - if they aren't right for you, you can return for a refund or an exchange.
We hear you .. so we really do feel for you! Feet and lower limb health conditions can be debilitating and we totally understand! We’ve designed our women’s footwear to help alleviate the symptoms of common foot conditions and health issues including:
• Plantar fasciitis
• Bunions
• Corns
• Calluses
• Arthritis
You can learn all the nitty gritty about the support and technology in our work range on our Inside a she wear shoe page. Our bio mechanical inner soles (footbeds) are also removable, and therefore all our of our shoes are orthotic friendly.
For maximum support, if you require safety footwear, we suggest a lace up style like our Does hiker style range, Achieves or Pursues zip lace up range.
If you require a work shoe or an every day shoe, look out for the Supports or Supports 2 or Nurtures.
We always do recommend seeking medical advice for any health or injury concerns. Feet are the foundations of body healthy, so it's vital to be under medical guidance particulary for foot and lower limb ailments.
Here’s what our customer’s have said:
“I have had plantar fasciitis for a good 6 months. I love the arches in my work boots so when I’m wearing them I have no pain. I work 12 hr days.”
~ Kerry
“I suffer from plantar fasciitis and swollen feet and lower legs. I wear she wear boots every day to work as I stand up all day. My feet/legs don’t ache after a long day at work on my feet. I have tried all types of shoes over the years but nothing has helped until I found shewear.”
~ Kirsten
"I have 4+5 bulging disc and sciatica in my right leg. My boots help me so much. Wearing my boots has helped a lot to the point I almost have it under control without meds. Your boots are amazing.”
~ Diana
“My she cares sneakers are so comfortable. I can even wear them with the hard ankle brace I need to wear until I have surgery. I have 2 issues with my foot in that I have broken my 5th metatarsal bone and ligament damage in my ankle. These are the only shoes I’ve been able to have on with the brace and to be able to wear a pair of shoes comfortably is awesome.”
~ Karen
We’re on a mission to reinvent *good* in women’s shoes. So our footwear range is built on 4 key considerations, which we believe are your fundamental stride rights:
1. Made specifically for women’s feet
2. Made for ALL day wear
3. Made for function AND fashion
4. Made with certified goodness (independently tested and certified)
Additionally, the majority of our shoes are crafted with 3 complex layers of support (learn more Inside a she wear Shoe), including:
• A custom designed signature bio mechanical inner sole (footbed) to cradle your heel and arch plus with a built in metatarsal dome. It’s also shaped to provide better lower limb alignment.
• A midsole built to lessen foot fatigue, cushion against impact, and to resist shoe over-flex.
• An outsole made from fit-for-purpose materials with great traction, slip resistance and other properties such as heat resistance.
Most certainly! All our women's shoes have removable inner soles (footbeds) and are suitable for orthotics. Just keep in mind if you do remove the she wear footbed, this does alter the anti static properties of the shoe.
Half sizes are a little bit of a myth! It is purely a width change, and even though a pair of socks can change the fit of your shoes by half a size, we go that one step further and actually design shoes for different female foot widths - we don't believe in a "one style suits all" approach. So you can choose a style that suits a narrow-average foot, or a style that suits a wider foot. Clever huh! ;)
Our product pages have considerable information on sizing and fit (just refer the tabs at the bottom of the page).
Science says: heck yes they are! That’s why it’s super important to make sure you are wearing shoes designed for women’s feet (it may surprise you to know that many ladies work shoes and boots are actually designed on a male’s foot mould). Read about the anatomical foot differences here, and why we specifically design for women’s feet.
We sure can! Contact our team via email and they can assist you with your safety and work requirements. We do have access to specialised uniforms such as FR, maternity, scrubs etc so touch base with us even if you don't see your specific requirements on our website.

POST PURCHASE
One thing is certain - the incorrect shoe for you will not feel comfy underfoot, or give you the support you deserve and need. Please follow the steps listed on the At Home Fitting page to ensure your footwear is the correct size and style for you prior to wear. And look out for an email in your inbox with our top fitting hints and tips! Sometimes it just takes a few small tweaks to get you in uber comfort, so make sure to read through that at home fitting page.
If you’ve tried all the tips and are unsure, you can always talk to us on Live Chat during business hours or phone or email us for suggestions - we know feet!
Meanwhile, our 30 day returns in Australia (and 45 Day returns for other countries) gives you peace of mind that if something isn’t quite right, you can opt for a different size/style or refund (full price only). Please remember that returns are only provided on shoes that haven’t been worn and are in a re-saleable condition. When trying on your shoes, we recommend you walk around on carpet for a few minutes. If shoes have been worn (other than for trying on), they will not qualify for a return.
We have designed a nifty Adapt Pack (included FREE with some of our styles) which will help you get comfy, and stay comfy!
Included is a 2nd thinner Premium insole which will allow you to manipulate the fit according to your foot type (or even just to "wear in" for the first few years), a pair of no-tie elastic laces so you can transform your sneaker from a traditional lace up to a handy slip on, and a gel comfort pack to help try and alleviate those pesky blisters (no one got time for that!). You can read more info, about the Adapt Pack here.
NB the Adapt Pack is NOT included if you have purchased a discounted 2nds and is not included in the new Supports 2 (white).
Yes!! Although most of our customers tell us their she wears are comfy “from the get go” and don’t need wearing in, as with any new shoes, it is possible you will need to take some time to get used to your she wears. We suggest short stints of use for the first few wears, and if you notice an area rubbing, pop on a gel pad to avoid those pesky blisters.
Please follow the steps listed on the At Home Fitting page to ensure your footwear is the correct size, style and material for you prior to wear.
Our 30 day easy returns in Australia (and 45 day returns for other countries) gives you peace of mind that if something isn’t quite right, you can opt for a different size/style or refund (full priced only). Please remember that returns are only provided on shoes that haven’t been used. When trying on your shoes, we recommend you walk around on carpet for a few minutes. If shoes have been worn (other than for trying on), they will not qualify for a return.
No, definitely not something wrong! Due to our strict compliance to standards and certification, our footwear is randomly tested during the production process and your shoe may have been chosen for the "flex test" in the factory.
A small amount of heel slippage is very normal in brand new shoes as the heel cup needs to mould to your foot. However excessive slippage will potentially cause a blister and a hole/tear in the lining with wear.
Your heel may be slipping for a few different reasons. A narrow foot, thickness of socks and lacing can really impact on slipping shoes. It may also be that you need a different size or style. One of our top tips to help alleviate shoe or boot slippage is using the lock lacing method. You can watch a quick video here on how to do this lacing method.
Otherwise, please have a read through our At Home Fitting page to ensure your footwear is right for you or reach out to our team for their expert advice!
Blisters are never fun - BOO! Luckily, most of our customers tell us they don’t get blisters or have any issues - YAY! However, with any new shoes, it is possible.
If you are prone to blisters or feel like your footwear is rubbing in a particular spot, gel pads are perfect for helping your comfort while the leather/shoe softens.
If you feel your heel slipping, this can also cause blisters (and constant slippage can also cause internal shoe damage). It’s important to check for slippage when first trying on your new shoes, as it could be a sign the sizing is incorrect - or that you need to consider your lace tightening method or sock thickness. We recommend following the steps on the At Home Fitting page to ensure you have the perfect fit before you start to wear your new shoes.
Our footwear is fully certified under international standards and this includes the materials we use, such as the lining in the heel area. We use an abrasive resistant heel lining and also design our footwear with a firm, supportive heel cup. This help gives your heel stability, assists with balance, and it also helps with the longevity of your shoes.
However, if you have slippage in your heel area, with that consistent movement and friction, a hole may develop over time in the heel region. It is very important to ensure your footwear fits correctly and to minimise slippage in your footwear as it's not healthy for your foot .. or your shoes! Experimenting with different socks, and the lock lacing method are the best ways to help alleviate slippage, and you can check out the video at this link.
Abrasian resistance (seat region lining) testing requirements (pass and/or exceed) :
"Wearing surface did not develop any holes before 51,200 cycles dry or 25,600 cycles wet"
Yeeeahhh, it ain’t good. Our leather styles do have a water resistant coating which protects the leather, however over time excessive water exposure will break down the leather and cause damage. Essentially, water and leather aren't BFFs, so firstly ensure your footwear is fit-for-purpose. If you are regularly in water or walking in muddy puddles, you are more suited to rubber footwear which has a waterproof outer.
For any leather shoes, it is always best to use a waterproofing spray on a regular basis, and do not force dry if your footwear does get wet – let your shoes dry naturally. Head to our Shoe Care & Cleaning page for all our tips! Show some TLC and your shoes will show their love in return and hang around for longer!
For all the best cleaning and care info for the different types of materials used in our shoes, please check out the Shoe Care & Cleaning page.
Although a quick fix for dirty or wet shoes is tempting - we are sounding the alarm bells!!! Many of our quality materials, like leather, won’t deal well with excessive water or heat. But most importantly, agitating machines will severely compromise the structure of our shoes.
For care tips for the different types of materials used in our shoes, please check out the Shoe Care & Cleaning page.
No please don’t! Clean the ol’ fashioned way - remove the inner soles from your shoes. Use warm water and mild soap or detergent and wipe down or gently scrub with an old toothbrush or nylon brush. Do not saturate with water. Air dry overnight.
Excess pigment from dyed leather or mesh footwear can sometimes leech out of the materials, particularly when footwear becomes wet or dampened by sweat.
• Waterproof your footwear on a regular basis (using the correct waterproofer for your material type) – spray the waterproofer on the internal lining of the footwear as well.
• Wipe down the insides of the shoes/boots with a slightly dampened cloth or you can use a small amount of vinegar on a dry cloth.
• If your shoes/boots are wet, wipe the external nap and the internal lining with a slightly dampened cloth to remove excess pigment (we don’t recommend getting shoes/boots wet on a regular basis, as it causes materials to breakdown).
• If your foot is stained, wet a paper towel or cotton ball in either rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to remove the stain.
Some more handy information can be found on this link.
Head to our Shoe Care & Cleaning page for all our tips!
Hmmm, it ain't great! When taking your boots off, using one shoe on the heel of the other to “help” kick off is a BIG no no!!
As tempting as it is after a long day, kicking off shoes does damage to the heel counter and stitching. It also voids your warranty. Read our tips on how to care for your shoes, including the proper way to remove them.
We have designed our own bamboo sock range, coz bamboo material has a bunch of awesome advantages! And it's organic!
Your feet will love the soft, comfy fabric with the added bamboo bonus of natural anti-bacterial and anti-odour qualities. Tests have shown that bamboo fibre is up to four times more absorbent than cotton, helping to zap up moisture and improve ventilation - so bamboo socks will help you stay dry, comfortable and less smelly! The perfect foot warmer in winter, and socks that stay cool & dry in summer.
Remember - the thickness of your socks will affect the fit of your shoes. So when selecting new socks, make sure they are a similar thickness as the ones you usually wear with your work shoes. View our cushy, soft Bamboo Sock range.
DESIGN & COMPLIANCE
We are a small Aussie company with our HQ and team based in Brisbane. Our Founder, Stacey, launched she wear as a home-based start up in 2013 and is still our head designer.
All she wear shoes are designed at our current HQ, in Northgate, Brisbane. Our shoe styles are then manufactured in our dedicated, family-run factories in China. The team (our internal management and external auditors) regularly visit our factories to ensure standards compliance, that staff are working in ethical conditions and are treated with respect. Our factory staff are paid above the local average wage, are offered voluntary paid overtime, work in very good working conditions, are well trained and have good career advancement opportunities. Read more about our Ethical considerations.
We’re on a mission to reinvent *good* in women’s work shoes. So our work range is built on 4 key considerations, which we believe are your fundamental stride rights. This includes ensuring that all work shoes and boots are independently tested and certified for safety and quality. We’re pretty proud of this achievement, as very few other women’s work shoe brands offer the same level of protection.
We engage an independent, third-party certification company, the BSI Group, to ensure our designs meet standards. Certifiers travel to our factories annually to conduct audits and ensure footwear is manufactured under strict standards compliance, and products and machinery are tested to internationally recognised standards.
Our safety footwear (with a safety toe cap) is certified to AS 2210.3:2019. Some styles are also certified to American Safety Footwear Certification ASTM F2413-11 and some styles are tested to European Safety Footwear Certification EN ISO 20345:2011.
Our work footwear (soft toe, or non-safety toe cap) is certified to occupational protective footwear standard AS 2210.5:2019.
Shoe certifications can be found on the Specifications tab on each product page, and our full certification information can be found here.
International customers: Please read certification and compliance information listed on each product carefully, as it may not be tested and compliant in your country. Purchasing a product means you acknowledge and understand the item may not be tested to your country’s requirements. No responsibility lies with she wear beyond Australia. You are purchasing accepting these terms.
Our footwear collections (except fashion gum boots) are tested and certified slip resistant under Australian standards. Some of our ranges are also certified to American standards and some are tested to the European standards.
Most of our styles are rated and certified SRC, which is the highest rating possible.
SRA: Tested to be slip resistant on a ceramic wetted tile contaminated with a diluted soap solution
SRB: Tested to be slip resistant on a smooth steel surface contaminated with a diluted soap solution
SRC: Passes both SRA and SRB testing (ie. highest level of protection possible under AS/NZ standards).
Slip resistant certifications can be found on the Specifications information panel on each product page. Please keep in mind there is no sole compound that will be completely slip resistant in all conditions.
All of our leather footwear has a water resistant upper (specification code - WRU). This means a commercial water resistant repellant is applied to the material before production and this assists with water affecting the condition of the top coat. A waterproofing or water repellant spray is recommended to be re-applied on a regular basis which helps protect the leather, assists with shoe longevity and also helps to lock the colour in. Water is harsh to shoes, so it's important to care for your footwear regularly.
A "waterproof boot" has an internal waterproof membrane which helps to stop water getting into your shoe. At this stage, we do not offer any footwear with this internal membrane. Keep in mind, if you do have footwear that offers this internal membrane, the outer upper will still get affected by regular wear in water. Shoes and water ain't good friends!! A waterproof boot will also only remain waterproof for a certain amount of exposure to water - it won't be waterproof for the life of the shoe!
We offer 2 safety toe protection options ~ steel safety cap or composite safety cap. Steel and composite safety caps are tested and certified to the same compliance standards and there are 2 formal tests that both safety caps must perform to:
1. Impact testing to 200 joules and;
2. Compression testing 15Kn pressure at a set speed.
There is considerable confusion in the industry and some do presume steel caps are required when it comes to safety footwear. However, this is often not the case - we encourage you to check your company’s requirements as more often than not, composite safety caps are suitable (and are much lighter, meaning less fatigue).
For a detailed look at the benefits of each type of cap, read more on our blog.
Yes! Our She Achieves, She Strives and She Moves safety footwear ranges are airport friendly and also perfect for detecting or prospecting.
We manufacture these ranges with a composite safety cap which is metal free (and much lighter than a steel cap, meaning less fatigue). Composite caps are tested and certified to the same compliance standards as steel caps, so check your company’s requirements to see if steel caps are a must. Often, you’ll discover they aren’t.
For a detailed look at the benefits of each type of cap, read more on our blog.
In September 2023, we released our very first vegan/non leather safety work boot, Considers. This style is manufactured with a bio based microfibre which is much more environmentally friendly than traditional faux leathers or pleathers. You can read around the material on our blog here.
Our waterproof fashion gum boots (She Reigns) are manufactured with natural rubber, and our work sneakers (She Cares) are produced with a breathable mesh material.
For many years we've been testing leather alternatives, so we're excited to finally release a boot that is non leather AND less harmful to our planet.
We sure can! Contact our team via email and they can assist you with your safety and work requirements. We do have access to specialised uniforms such as FR, maternity, scrubs etc so touch base with us even if you don't see your specific requirements on our website.
Clothing
SIZE & FIT
The cut, fabric and design of a garment can really affect its fit, which means “standard” size guides are often misleading. So we threw out the “standard” guides, and got busy hand measuring every single workwear product for it’s exact measurements. You can find the exact measurements for each garment listed in the Size & Fit information on each product page.
These measurements are great to compare with a similar garment that you already know fits you well. Just be sure that your garment is very similar in shape, fabric and fit. For instance, if you are considering a slim fit, stretch cotton top product - be sure that your comparable garment is also slim fit, and has a similar stretch material.
For more detailed info on measuring a garment correctly plus extra tips to help you find the perfect fit, head to the Workwear Size Guide.
Meanwhile, our 30 day returns in Australia (and 45 Day Returns for other countries) gives you peace of mind that if something isn’t quite right, you can opt for a different size/style or refund.
Certainly! We're always happy to hear from you. We offer virtual fitting appointments, where you can video chat with us for personalised style and size advice. Via video we can also display some of the features of each product, which may help your final decision. Book your appointment today!
Otherwise, we love a chat - pop onto our Live Chat feature for a super quick response during business hours, or phone or email us!
To prevent shrinkage, always follow the washing instructions listed on the care label of your item. Some materials, like denim, may give a little and mould to your shape as you wear them. Typically, once washed, they will revert back to their original unworn state.
For detailed workwear care tips, please check out the Workwear Care & Cleaning page.
YKK fly zippers are built with a locking mechanism to stop the zip falling back open. Once you’ve zipped the fly all the way up, be sure to fold the zipper pull back over, so it sits against the zipper chain, pointing downwards. This will lock the zip into position.
CARE
Please always read the garment care label or check out the Workwear Care & Cleaning page for further information.

PRE ORDERS
On select items we may offer a pre order purchase. Pre orders allow you to purchase an item ahead of its release day. It’s a great way to make sure you get the item you want, especially if it’s a product that will sell out quickly, like a limited edition item. Please note, even though we try our best to stick to the original pre order release date, sometimes the supply chain takes much longer than expected, and therefore release dates are subject to change and not guaranteed.
Pre orders work just like your normal shopping journey. Select your size and add the item to your cart. Checkout and pay for the item in full. You can use all payment options, including Afterpay. The item's release date may change so keep checking back to the product page for updates. Once your item has been dispatched to you, you’ll receive an email with tracking information.
Our normal returns policy (and any applicable warranty) applies to all pre order items.
If you purchase other in stock items, along with a pre order item, all items will be dispatched together once the pre order item is available.
SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS
Some of our more specialised workwear options, like flame resistant (FR) clothing, is listed on the product page as a special order item. This means, although the stock isn’t immediately available, we will order with our supplier as soon as your order is placed. You can check out on our website as normal and there's nothing else you need to do. We'll be back in touch when the order is ready to be dispatched to you.
Generally, stock only takes 5-7 business days to arrive to our Brisbane HQ and we'll then promptly dispatch to you. If you order other items along with that special item order, these will all be dispatched to you at the same time.
Yes we do for Australian orders over $100. You will be asked if you would like to pay with AfterPay at check out if you have met these conditions.
My Account enables you to create a personalised she wear account. Once created, it will contain your order history, any current tracking information and allows you to check out faster by pre-filling your details into the check out (after your first order). You do not need an account to place an order, but if you do make a purchase as a guest, your order history will not be available to you on the website.
Please remember, that signing up for an account is not the same as signing up to our email newsletter. The email newsletter subscription can be found at the bottom of each page, and is separate to your account.
No need to stress - it’s super quick to reset your password. Click on the “person” icon in the top right hand corner on the she wear website. Once the login screen loads, click the “forgotten password” button. You will be prompted to enter in your email address associated with your account. Once you have entered your address, you will automatically be sent an email with a link to reset your password. Then just follows the prompts!

Of course - we offer virtual Gift cards. Simply choose the dollar amount you’d like to gift, and then checkout. A virtual gift card will be sent by email to you. The virtual gift card has all the details she’ll need, like the gift card number (they’ll enter that in at checkout), and the dollar value.
The full terms are provided on the gift card product page.
Oooh, unfortunately this is something that we have no way to control. Although we photograph all products to represent colours as accurately as possible, different screens will show slightly different colours due to their settings and original calibration. This means we can’t guarantee that the colour you see on your screen will exactly match the actual product.
