Featuring .. Lin

Name : Lin Sabuin

Role : OHS Systems Supervisor, Ok Tedi Mining

Location : Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

Your role description :

My roles & responsibilities include monitoring & maintaining all OHS systems activities. This is inclusive of managing diverse range of reports to meet statutory & business requirements for the organisation. Also provide accurate data analysis of incidents for trending across the business for continuous improvement.

What do you enjoy about your role?

I enjoy my role as a Systems personnel as I get the opportunity to analyze different types of data from across the business and I also learn new things every day from my immediate Superintendent, Anna.Ila, who is an awesome role model who supports, mentors & leads daily.

How did you get into the mining/safety industry? How did you learn your skills? :

I have a Bachelor of Science, hence when I moved from my specialty to OHS as I wanted to learn more about OHS and how dynamic it is in any industry, I never looked back.

What advice would you give to women? :

Rise Above The Bar!

Any feedback or comments about your she wear footwear :

I searched the net because I had a sibling who was diagnosed with cancer. So I wanted to show support to my sister. I purchased the pink boots & that was the greatest thing I did, as it was for a purpose & I love my boots because they not only speak volumes but they are comfortable and unique & I wear them everyday to work. *

Are you a member of any special committees or network groups? :

I am a member of the OK Tedi Women’s Network, which is known as OWN. It’s a platform that supports & empowers women in the male dominated industry that we are working in. OWN is driven by our Managing Director and supported by a powerful committee consisting of women across the business.

One of the events we celebrated last year was Pinktober for cancer awareness in which my Superintendent Anna & I proudly wore our pink boots for the month of October .
