The environment, sustainability and climate change are hot topics in today's world. Political parties are winning elections based on their environmental policies and consumers are choosing brands that openly work towards good environmental practices. And rightly so, the recent increase in extreme weather is becoming a big concern for both current and emerging generations. So how do we at she wear address our environmental impact during the production of our women's work shoes, and safety boots?

Top 8 ways that we are addressing environmental impact

Certified raw materials. We consider carefully the raw materials that we use in the production of our work shoes, especially our safety boot range. Our responsibly sourced Gold Rated leather is from tanneries who use less energy, less water, and more eco-friendly chemicals. Not only is this better for the environment but it means our shoes are made from durable, supportive and long-lasting materials.

Certified organic bamboo. Our OEKO-TEX® organic bamboo products are certified by EcoCert, which ensures a product from renewable resources, and eco-friendly manufacturing. Not only are our products soft, durable and comfortable but they are produced with with the environment in mind.

Green shoe boxes. The current shoes boxes that we use for our ladies boots are made from 100% recycled cardboard and have a recycled cord handle (doubling as a carry bag!).  Our internal packaging is also environmentally friendly. All our shoe boxes and their contents are fully recyclable.

Reduce waste. We carefully consider how to minimise waste at every step of the she wear journey - from ordering to delivery. We work closely with our factories to minimise waste during each step of manufacturing processes and adopt sustainable practices in our warehouses and offices. We've also eliminated any unnecessary plastic wrapping or shipping materials.
Eco-materials. We are constantly monitoring tech developments in sustainable materials for our work boots. We watch for real-world and tough-work test results that are sustainably produced and sourced, and innovative in the fashion industry. Stock surplus. We condemn the destruction of end-of-life or seconds stock. We guarantee the quality of our product and where that quality is not up to our high standards, rather than dispose of the product we give them another life. Our seconds shoes are discounted and sold online, while end-of-life stock not worth of resale is donated to various charity partners or recycled responsibly. Ditching plastic packaging. To reduce the amount of plastic entering our environment, we’re currently transitioning our packaging to away from plastics that ends up in landfill. Our recycled boxes and mailing satchels can be re-used for returns, upcycled into usable products around the home or recycled again! Our mailing satchels are 100% recycled plastic and contain a 2nd adhesive strip for reuse. It can also be recycled wherever soft plastics are accepted. Carbon neutral shipping. With climate change a big topic in today's world, we work hard to minimise our carbon footprint, including during the shipping process. Our main shipping provider's service is recognised as carbon neutral. This means they offset 100% of delivery emissions by purchasing carbon credits, and are actively working towards reducing their emissions at every step of the delivery chain. How can you help?

We are always on the look out for ways in which we can improve both our women's work shoes, safety boots and workwear for women, and the sustainability of the way in which they are produced. Here are some ways that you, our she wear customers, can help us do  better environmentally.

Do your part. The packaging that your she wear boots arrive in is fully recyclable. So until you are 100% certain that they are the right fit for you, keep the original packaging just in case you need to return them. Then when you've fallen in love with your work shoes and can't take them off, make sure that you place the packaging in your recycling bin so it can be recycled again into a new item.

Feedback. If there is something that you feel we could be doing better, then we would love to hear from you. We consider all feedback carefully, and where possible will  take action to improve the product and the experience for our she wear customers. We want people not only to love our beautiful work boots, but to be happy with the way in which our ladies shoes are produced.

Suggestions. Have you seen a product, or a process, that may work to improve our products environmentally, sustainably or ethically? We are always on the look out for new technology and process that can improve both our products and our practices.
