Excess pigment from dyed leather footwear can sometimes leech out of the leather, particularly when footwear becomes wet or dampened by sweat.
- Ensure you waterproof your leather footwear on a regular basis (using the correct waterproofer for your leather type) – spray the waterproofer on the internal lining of the footwear as well
- Wipe down the insides of the shoes/boots with a slightly dampened cloth
- If your footwear is wet (we don’t recommend getting shoes/boots wet on a regular basis, as this does cause leather to breakdown), wipe the external nap and the internal lining with a slightly dampened cloth to remove excess pigment
- If your foot is stained, wet a paper towel or cotton ball in either rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to remove the stain
